Climate change is a reality! A reality that concerns us all. Climate change significantly affects the environment, society and our lives.

The green transition to a zero-emission future, allowing for a faster transition away from carbon, is now an internationally recognized necessity in order to address the phenomenon of climate change and urgent measures must be taken at international, national and local levels. Greece will be at the forefront in developing such an approach, both at national, European and international levels.

Smart, sustainable and resilient cities are now the new model for healthy development. The design of projects is now based on a new model that takes into account social and environmental parameters and their implementation policies (ESG). The adaptation of projects and infrastructure to climate change based on the new climate law (climate adaptation) is now a necessary condition.

The Association of Greek Engineering Firms, with its members representing the vast majority of Greek Engineering Firms, plays an important role in the development planning and implementation of public and private investments in the country. In this context, it places great emphasis on the design and implementation of infrastructure projects with a focus on their adaptation to climate change in combination with other socio-economic and technological parameters (intelligent systems).

Projects are now being designed with the integration of new innovative technologies focused on preventing and/or reducing harmful emissions but also on the successful design of sustainable and climate change-resistant projects. Thus, at the forefront are technologies related to alternative energy sources, sustainable agriculture (concept nexus, optimal management of water - energy - food - ecosystems resources), electromobility, recycling, carbon capture and storage, etc.

The Greek Energy and Environmental Society (SEGM) through its members provides support within the framework of the “Climatherm Energy 2022” event”
